About

I took my first flamenco guitar lesson in the spring of 1962. It cost $3.00 and was taught by Carmen Ripepe of Tucson (now LA). Much has changed since then both in the world of guitar, flamenco guitar, rock guitar and the technology of teaching. I have also studied guitar with Sophocles Papas, Rene Heredia, John Rittman of Tucson (rock guitar) and many different jazz guitarists.

Now guitar instruction is available from even the world reknown guitarists such as Paco de Lucia, John McLaughlin and Larry Coryell in the form of DVD’s and transcriptions. Despite many years of playing the guitar, I could never really improvise until my son’s rock guitar teacher John Rittman introduced me to playing modes. I hope that the guitar lessons on this site help you to find your music and the guitar reviews help you to find the best guitar program for your money.
